After a very disappointing game for WSU, the Cougars (1-2) return to Pullman to face the California Golden Bears (1-3) in the final regular season game.
Saturday’s game for the Cougars is the regular season finale before “Championship Week”, where all Pac-12 teams will have an opponent TBA, except for the two teams going to the Pac-12 Championship game.
The Cougars are coming off a horrific loss to No. 15 USC on the road, where the Trojans put up 28 points on the WSU defense in the first quarter and eventually lost 38-13.
Meanwhile, California is coming off their only win on the season, when they beat Oregon 21-17 at home in an upset.
WSU hopes to get junior running back Max Borghi back for the game, as he has missed this season with an injury, but is currently listed ahead of redshirt senior running back Deon McIntosh on the depth chart.
True freshman quarterback Jayden de Laura is presumed to be getting the start tomorrow, even after his subpar performance last week against the Trojans and when both redshirt junior Cammon Cooper and redshirt sophomore Gunner Cruz took the field.
WSU looks to end the regular season at or above .500 for the sixth consecutive season, with the last time finishing under .500 on the season being 2014, when the Cougars went 3-9.
The kickoff for this game was scheduled to be at 7:30 p.m. on Fox Sports 1, but, with the cancellation of the Washington-Oregon game due to COVID concerns at Washington, the game has now been flexed into the 1 p.m. slot on FOX.
The Golden Bears open up as a two-point favorite and the over/under of the game is 53.5 points.
